AWS awards APN Ambassador status to DevOpsGroup cloud consultant

DevOpsGroup cloud consultant Colin Barker has earned the coveted title of Amazon Partner Network (APN) Ambassador. With only 213 APN Ambassadors worldwide, this rare achievement underlines our position at the forefront of AWS expertise and best practice.

What is an APN Ambassador?

APN Ambassadors are skilled cloud practitioners who have demonstrated a passion for developing and sharing AWS technical expertise. They hold multiple AWS certifications and in-depth knowledge which they use in real-world scenarios.

All Ambassadors are employed by APN Partners. They ensure their own organisation keeps pace with AWS’ rapidly evolving capabilities as well as handling the design, migration and implementation of AWS workloads for customers. To achieve and maintain Ambassador status they also need to contribute to the wider AWS community. This includes publishing thought leadership materials, best practice guidance and detailed technical write-ups.

More information about the APN Ambassador Program is available here.

“When Colin joined DevOpsGroup, it quickly became clear that his enthusiasm and expert knowledge of cloud capabilities would help position us at the cutting edge of AWS best practice. Our achievement of APN DevOps and Migration Competencies has demonstrated this best practice across a large range of customer engagements. Colin continues to add significant value across our customer engagements, our AWS practice and the wider AWS community as an APN Ambassador. This is a true career highlight for Colin and we’re so happy for him.”

Colin’s APN Ambassador journey

A combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practitioner experience sets APN Ambassadors apart as technical authorities on AWS. As well as focusing on his own professional development and that of the DevOpsGroup team, Colin contributes to the advancement of the AWS community. For instance, he’s taken part in webinars discussing essential characteristics of successful cloud computing and cloud migration best practice. More recently, as a member of the AWS Certification Subject Matter Expert Program, he’s participated in the creation and review of exam content for the Solutions Architect – Professional, Advanced Networking and DevOps Engineer – Professional certifications. Engaging with expert practitioners in this way enables AWS to ensure its certifications reflect real-world needs.

Going forward, now that he’s achieved Ambassador status, Colin is actively involved in the global APN Ambassador community. He will continue driving DevOpsGroup’s progress as an AWS Partner, delivering tangible benefits to our team and our customers. He’ll also build on his role as an expert contributor to the AWS community at large. Later this year, he’ll be involved with AWS re:Invent representing DevOpsGroup and the APN.

“I’ve always enjoyed building my own skills and knowledge, exploring new and challenging aspects of the cloud and DevOps. Helping clients solve technical challenges, and teaching others to do the same, really motivates me. Being able to do all of this within the framework of the APN Ambassador Program is so rewarding. It’s great to be recognised as an Ambassador and I’m looking forward to the next stage of the journey.”
