DevOpsGroup, an IT services firm based in Cardiff, has been recognised as one of the 50 fastest-growing businesses in Wales.
The company, which specialises in DevOps and cloud engineering and consultancy, has received this prestigious honour from the Wales Fast Growth 50.
Now in its eighteenth year, the Fast Growth 50 identifies and celebrates organisations helping to grow the Welsh economy and put the country on the map.
Since launching in 1999, 528 elite companies have been featured in eighteen Fast Growth 50 lists. They’ve created more than 30,000 jobs and contribute an estimated £15 billion to the economy annually.
This news comes as DevOpsGroup is undergoing rapid expansion. In May, the company received £3 million of investment from BGF, and recently changed from DevOpsGuys to DevOpsGroup in response to the growing diversity within the organisation.
On October 19th, DevOpsGroup will attend an award ceremony at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff to mark this standout achievement.
It will join other winners and sponsors – including organisations such as PwC, University of South Wales, Barclays Bank, the Welsh Government, Media Wales and Sinclair Finance and Leasing.
Founded in 2013 by James Smith and Steve Thair, DevOpsGroup is on a mission to help organisations innovate at speed, empower transformation leaders, unlock business agility and accelerate revenue.
DevOpsGroup has led digital transformation journeys for some of the world’s largest organisations, including Admiral, Vodafone, Waitrose, BAE Systems and the DVLA.
Speaking about the honour, James Smith – CEO and co-founder of DevOpsGroup – said: “We’re delighted to be nominated for this year’s Fast Growth 50. It’s fantastic recognition of the work the whole team has done to cement ourselves as a high-growth business.
“We’re operating in a really exciting market and have some amazing customers. I think awards like the Fast Growth 50 celebrate the achievements for the whole team.
“Scaling a business anywhere in the world is hard, and Wales is no different. We have a growing amount of support here in the ecosystem, but more needs to be done to help scale-up organisations.
“Challenges aside, we’ve successfully made the transition from start-up to scale-up and are continuing with this strong growth. Our value proposition is evolving daily, and as a company, we’re excited about the future.”
A bright future
Steve Thair, chief product officer and co-founder of DevOpsGroup, hailed this as a unique milestone for the company.
“Being nominated as part of the Fast Growth 50 in DevOpsGroup’s fifth year is an exciting part of our evolution as an award-winning Welsh-headquartered IT services business,” he said.
“Being a part of the Welsh start-up community and being able to draw on the fantastic pool of IT talent here in Wales, including our interns and graduates from Cardiff Uni, University of South Wales and Cardiff Met, has been a key part of our success. We look forward to the next five years.”
Professor Dylan Jones-Evans, founder of the Wales Fast Growth 50, added: “I am really pleased to welcome DevOpsGroup to our Fast Growth 50 family, where they join a group of high-performing businesses that are creating valuable jobs and wealth for the Welsh economy.
“Being named a Fast Growth 50 firm is a huge achievement, particularly because we had a fantastic response to this year’s competition and the quality of the entries was exceptionally high.
“DevOpsGroup has enjoyed a phenomenal period of growth over recent years, which is testament to the hard work of the team.”
