Who you'll be working with

From day one you will become part of the People team, You will work closely with our other Internal Recruiter Gareth, and also Lucy and Emily, our culture, feedback and just about anything DOG related specialists. It’s a close-knit team that’s delivered great things and you’ll become part of continuing that journey.

You’ll report to our Head of People, Helen, who cares deeply about our internal culture and the people here at DevOpsGroup. We are all part of the wider BizOps function, so you’re also likely to interact daily with our COO, Ops Manager and Internal TechOps Engineer’s too.

Even though this is your direct team, you’ll be interacting with everyone across the business at various points, including Engineers, Delivery Manager and various other internal teams.

Our HQ office is in the centre of Cardiff with spectacular views of the City. We value face-to-face interaction as a team and meet up for key meetings​ occasionally, so there will be an expectation to commute to the office one or two days a week. However, we are a remote-friendly company and offer flexible working from home options.

What You'll Do...

You will assist in managing the end-to-end recruitment process, from creating job adverts and shortlisting CV’s, to qualifying candidates, arranging interviews, offers and onboarding – all while providing a world-class candidate experience throughout.

You will gather requirements from internal stakeholders and hiring managers, understanding their needs and what skills they are looking for in their respected squads, which will put you in a good place to start sourcing exceptional talent for the business.

Even though you will own specific vacancies and see them through to completion, don’t worry, we’re a collaborative bunch, and you’ll have the full backing and support of others in the Recruitment and People team

Here’s how your first month will look…

We will ease you into your time at DevOpsGroup with a fully planned two-week onboarding process to learn our ways of working and key systems.

  • You will meet your direct team, as well as a mixture of peers with varying experience
  • We will introduce you to all the squads throughout the business so you can begin building strong relationships and understand DOG
  • You will work day to day with your line manager and fortnightly 1-2-1’s will be booked, you will experience your first 1-2-1 by the end of your first month
  • We pride ourselves on our openness within DOG and you will be given the opportunities to provide feedback on your onboarding and your first month at DOG. You will also receive feedback from your team and line manager during this time
  • By now you’ll be familiar with our ATS (Workable) which we use daily in the People team to manage our talent pipeline

By month three…

  • You’ll likely have completed the BCS Agile course that will have given you a common understanding of our preferred ways of working
  • You will have familiarised yourself with our day to day tooling e.g. JIRA and Confluence, Slack, OneDrive, as well as our People systems such as PeopleHR
  • The squad will have carefully chosen a team building evening (whether it’s virtual or in person)
  • You will have attended your first quarterly DOG Conference, and be invited to team buiding within your squad.
  • By now, you have a far better understanding of what each squad does and who’s in them, alongside the type of work we deliver to customers.
  • You’ve started working on a few live vacancies by now and maybe you’ve helped find someone their dream job at DevOpsGroup.

A full year with DevOpsGroup…

  • You’ll have made a big impact, helping to scale the business further, recruiting, onboarding and retaining the best talent in tech to succeed at DOG
  • You will have drawn upon some of your experience to implement new ideas and solutions into the team
  • You’ve learnt A LOT, from specific skill sets and tools used by Engineers in the DevOps/Cloud space, to understanding the tech recruitment market in depth
  • You’ll fully understand Kanban and agile, using it internally to manage your workload and pieces of work
  • You’ll be on your 4th cycle of quarterly OKR’s (our goal setting mechanism)
  • You may have even done a further certification or two, and used your dedicated training budget for personal development
  • You’ll understand the various features available in Workable like the back of your hand
  • You’ve probably attended a tech meet-up by now, networking with people in the industry and furthering your knowledge of the community

The skills you'll need...

  • Previous recruitment experience is essential (360 or resourcing) – experience in-house is highly desirable
  • An understanding of the tech market and common skill-sets, specifically within Cloud or DevOps would be a bonus
  • The ability to manage multiple vacancies at any given time, with acute attention to detail
  • You will be very familiar with Linkedin and industry-leading job boards, understanding how to best utilise the platforms, for searching and advertising
  • You’ll be able to provide an excellent candidate experience and always put the customer first
  • Experience with an Applicant Tracking Sytems (ATS) – we use Workable
  • The ability to effectively gather requirements from stakeholders and understand hiring needs
  • Experience hiring at all levels, from graduate recruitment through to senior appointments
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
