What You'll Do...

You will be here to lead a high-performing people team which is responsible for driving the internal culture, attracting the best talent throughout the UK and ensure that our people can do their best work and love what they do. You’ll craft environments which enable our people to help our clients connect people and technology to create a positive change.

No two days are the same and you’ll be used to working at a fast pace. From people strategy to cultivating feedback mechanisms, form the graduate programme to forward thinking people initiatives, you’ll be used to rising to unique challenges of a fast-growth technology company at the forefront of the industry.

Here’s how your first month will look…

  • We will ease you into your time at DOG with a fully planned two-week onboarding process to learn our ways of working and tooling.
  • You will meet your team, as well as a mixture of peers with varying experience in our Cardiff HQ
  • A team lunch will be provided on your first day for everyone in the Cardiff HQ to come together
  • We will introduce you to all the squads throughout the business so you can begin building strong relationships and understand DOG
  • You will work day to day with your line manager and fortnightly 1-2-1’s will be booked, you will experience your first 1-2-1 by the end of your first month
  • We pride ourselves on our openness within DOG and you will be given the opportunities to provide feedback on your onboarding and your first month at DOG. You will also receive feedback from your team and line manager during this time

By month three…

  • You’ll have completed the BCS Agile course that will have given you a common understanding as to the preferred ways of working
  • You will have familiarised yourself with our day to day tooling e.g. JIRA and Confluence, as well as our people systems such as Workable and PeopleHR
  • You’ll likely have facilitated some workshops, gathered some feedback and got stuck in on improving our internal culture
  • The squad will have had a carefully chosen a team building evening
  • You will have attended a quarterly DOG Conference with food and team building provided!

A full year with DevOpsGroup…

  • You’ll have supported the People Team to recruit, retain and enable the best talent in tech
  • You will have created and delivered large parts of the people strategy and you’ll have forward thinking innovative solutions which you’re excited about introducing
  • You’ll be an expert in Kanban and agile, using it internally to manage the people teams work;
  • Be on your 4th cycle of quarterly OKRs (our goal setting mechanism)
  • Have learned a whole lot of things you couldn’t have anticipated from some of the smartest people in the industry;

Who you’ll be working with…

You’ll be leading the people success team, which is made up of Gareth, our Recruitment wizard, Lauren, our onboarding maestro and Lucy, our culture, feedback and just about anything DOG related specialist.  It’s a close-knit team that’s delivered great things and you’ll become part of continuing that journey. The team has a deep love of Colin the Caterpillar cake.

Outside of the team you’ll report to our dynamic COO who cares deeply about our internal culture and the people here at DOG. Equally you’ll interact with consultants who are experts in ways of working and will be able to help you with all things related to information flow, Kanban and generating high performance culture.

You’ll interact with everyone across the business, including engineers, client success managers and various other internal teams.

We’re looking for someone who can…

  • Create a People strategy that supports the entire business
  • Develop and implement People initiatives in line with organisational objectives
  • Lead the organisation’s People departments, including talent acquisition, learning and development, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, talent management, People information systems and financial planning of the department
  • Liaise directly with the COO and be accountable for the performance of the people function and the departments within it, as well as provide strategic counsel on all people matters
  • Contribute to long-term goals around business and people development, including succession planning
  • Develop company wellbeing, health and counselling policies
  • Lead the analysis of employee feedback and data, with the aim of creating a better working environment and engaged culture
  • Create and manage the People department’s annual budget
  • Take oversight of the company’s culture
  • Global responsibility for the organisation’s talent functions and culture
  • Graduate intake

The skills you’ll need…

  • Organisational skills– personal efficiency, time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands are key
  • Communication skills– lead the people team, managing diverse personalities and viewpoints. Consequently, emotional intelligence, the ability to build relationships and collaborate with others is vital
  • Commercial acumen– involved in strategic decision-making within the business as an influencer. Being able to understand company finances, resourcing and the ultimate aims of the business is important
  • Role modelling– As a senior member expected to demonstrate and lead on the values, initiatives and culture of the organisation
  • Professional expertise– A strong working knowledge of employment law issues, best practice processes for disciplinaries, redundancies and payroll is required, as well as experience of employee relations
  • Coaching and mentoring– Whether senior executives, junior colleagues or middle management, you will be proficient in developing skills in your talent
  • Trust– You will become a trusted confidante on talent issues, unafraid of giving your opinions and expertise
  • Progressive workplace strategies – a strong understanding of progressive ways of working and strategies to help empower the people within the business and create a healthy working environment

It’s a bonus if you’ve got……

  • MCIPD or relevant qualification
  • Experience of working in a tech environment (bonus points if it’s in a high growth scaling organisation)
  • An understanding of Agile principals
